This add-in enables you to localise your knowledge solutions. You can now develop a knowledge domain once and then deploy it in multiple settings using a range of different localisations. You can use localisations to deploy your knowledge solutions in other national languages. Other kinds of user group segmentations that you can bring about by this localisation feature include having different amounts and contents of information displayed to different user groups, like e.g. in-house consultants versus on-line web service users. By use of this fully-fledged localisation feature you can lower the costs considerably of targeting your knowledge solutions at new market segmentations, as this is now in principle a matter of develop once deploy everywhere.

The localisation feature has a user-centered design that allows translators and text writers to conduct the localisations independently. The implementation and maintenance of the knowledge solution and the localisation of content can be carried out as separate and asynchronous operations. Finally, the text writing itself is carried out outside the Intellix Designer and and therefore requires no special training of text writers or purchase of additional licences.

Features
The Language Add-in for Excel provides means for exporting and importing knowledge domain languages to and from Microsoft (R) Excel, thereby enabling translations into other languages to be accomplished by use of other applications, typically professional translation software to which an Excel sheet can be used as an intermediate format, outside the Intellix Designer. For small localisation tasks the spreadsheet may be used directly.

The export feature lets you export all textual contents of a knowledge domain into an Excel workbook. The exported Excel workbook has a very user-friendly format containing a rich set of supplementary information making it easy to navigate and locate specific texts. A detailed set of instructions is enclosed in every Excel workbook exported for use by translators and marketing writers, making the localisation contents almost self-contained.

The import feature starts by validating the contents of the Excel workbook to be imported. The developer of the knowledge domain in question is then provided with a full scanning report highlighting all structural differences and incompatibilities that were found. This information can be used to decide whether to import the localisation content or not. This versatile validation procedure makes it possible to conduct localisation and other knowledge domain developments as asynchronous activities.

Having the localisation content available in Excel allows you to take advantage of the well-known features of Excel while transferring the content to and from your translation application, including sorting, filtering, easy overview, spell checking etc. The use of Excel workbooks as an intermediate format for localisation content also makes it very easy to split up the localisation activities among several text writers.

Upgraded Intellix Designer
To fully implement the localisation feature a few functional supplements have been introduced in the Intellix Designer. These are now included in the new Intellix Designer 4.11. These supplements include a feature for adding additional languages to a knowledge domain, and a feature to facilitate testing of the localisations in the enclosed Web testbench.

Requirements
The Language Add-in for Excel will work with Microsoft (R) Excel 97, 2000 or XP. The Language Add-in for Excel requires that Intellix Designer 4.11 or later is installed.
