Version 5.0 of the Intellix Designer builds upon the strengths of version 4.11 and includes a number of improvements designed to make it quicker and easier to build Intellix Advisors. The present release includes major improvements in the areas of knowledge modeling, workflow visualization and control, business integration and testing.

The following is a summary of the improvements and new features contained in Intellix Designer 5.0:

· Terminology and Concepts - Improved names and simplified concepts are used throughout the entire product suite.

· Unified Advisor model - two previously separate models (Guide and ISF) have been combined and the strengths of each model are now available in a single unified model. The result is more powerful and more flexible solutions. It is now easier to build, integrate and manage Advisors.

· Improved workflow features - The Navigation Pane is a new graphical interface introduced as a key component for strengthening workflow functionality. Workflow control, flexibility, visualization and test capabilities have all been significantly improved.

· Calculator Node - calculations and comparison operations can be easily performed using the new Calculator node.

· Query Mode and Form Mode - a new concept introduced to make it easy to setup an Advisor to ask questions one at a time or in groups

· Expertise Areas - a new concept is introduced that makes it easier to control how questions are asked and to reuse expertise in different Advisors.

· Recommendation model - multiple, ranked results are now available without restrictions.

· Email Components - ongoing feedback to the knowledge engineer or expert is an essential component of all expertise automation solutions. A new feature enables the expert to be emailed directly to provide feedback or report exceptions.

· Improved business integration - integration with external data sources is now generally available. An ODBC component means external database queries are now possible without the need for programming. A wizard is available for creating integration components.

· Language support - The Excel language add-in for supporting multiple languages is now included as a standard feature in the Intellix Designer.

· Assisted Advisor Creation - a powerful new tool to help users develop Advisors more quickly and easily. 'Assisted Advisor Creation' focuses on the problem to be solved rather than the technical aspects of developing a solution. Starting from the possible outcomes and working backwards, a user uses an electronic form to describe how outcomes are influenced by different factors. As more examples are provided by the user the Advisor becomes more robust. The Intellix Designer can even prompt the user to interpret certain situations and use the answers to further improve the Advisor.

In Intellix Designer you express knowledge in terms of examples, teaching the system the right results for different scenarios of input combinations. This learning process is similar to the way humans learn and makes Intellix Designer the most intuitive product of its kind.

Active Knowledge Acquisition
The Active Knowledge Acquisition feature included in Intellix Designer guides you through the process of filling in the most important cases to your model. Since our tacit knowledge is far greater than our explicit knowledge, Intellix Designer has a feature that probes and exploits tacit knowledge. This feature examines the example set and identifies areas of doubt where it would be beneficial to add more cases. Use of this feature leads to robust models able to generalise with perfect accuracy.

Optimising Business Processes.
Having finalised the modelling of your business process with Intellix Designer, you can take advantage of the optimisation functions. The optimisation functions execute a thorough evaluation of the knowledge foundation for the business process by use of Intellix's patented technology and returns the most optimal model for providing decisions for any scenario.

Integration and Adaptation
Intellix Designer lets you define the parameters to be used for integrating automated business processes with your back-end systems. This openness and flexibility of Intellix Designer is also seen in its add-in interface, which lets programmers enhance the Intellix Designer environment to meet specific needs. Furthermore, the new Intellix Designer ISF Add-in allows hitherto unseen levels of customisability as regards customising web layout and dividing the input gathering into phases, and integrating with other IT systems.
