The Intellix Expertise Server 3.0 is a highly robust and scalable server product that is used to deliver enterprise-wide expert support for business processes.

Experts or Knowledge Engineers use the Intellix Designer 5.0 to build Intellix Advisors - neural network based Expertise Automation solutions. An Advisor encapsulates the knowledge and experience required to support a business process - to support decision making, distribute company policy or to help solve problems. The Intellix Expertise Server is then used to deliver the recommendations or solutions based on the expertise contained in the Advisors. Advisors can be either stand-alone or integrated into enterprise systems.

Imitating Human Expert behaviour
The Intellix approach mimics the way that human experts solve problems. Given a problem, experts start with generalconsiderations and investigations and very quickly move on to 'zero in' on a solution - they request specific information or answers to specific questions in a highly focused and interactive dialogue.

The Intellix Expertise Server works in a similar fashion. Given a problem to solve, a user initiates a session via the Expertise Server and accesses an Advisor. The Advisor drives the dialogue - asking specific questions or giving alternatives for the user to choose between. After each answer, the neural network re-evaluates what the next most important question should be to reach a resolution - in much the same way an expert does.

Flexibility
The Intellix Expertise Server can deliver Advisor sessions via standard web-browsers over intranets or the internet, or can be integrated into existing enterprise systems.

Integration
Different integration possibilities are available - an XML-based component layer provides the functionality needed to build highly integrated enterprise solutions. Alternatively simple database lookup is possible via an ODBC component. It is also possible to embed Advisors in other systems and run them as back end monitors that only make themselves visible when they detect problems.

Scalability
Intellix Expertise Automation solutions are highly scalable. The Intellix Enterprise Server is used by customers today to provide solutions of all sizes - from single-user solutions at Eastman Chemical in the US to several hundred simultaneous users at If.. insurance in Norway.
